Here, the upper estimate of EUR 10,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 11,250.00. Admittedly, works by Abraham van Strij have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An interior with a child seated in a high chair teasing a dog, a servant washing by the window behind her in November 2003 with an auction result of EUR 59,750.00.

Die Arbeit A man smoking a pipe near the fireplace, a dog at his feet von Abraham van Strij wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Old Masters and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 10.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 11.250,00 einen neuen Besitzer.
