In January 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II, which included the work Merchant At His Desk by Abraham van Strij. The result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,143.49) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abraham van Strij - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An interior with a child seated in a high chair teasing a dog, a servant washing by the window behind her, which sold at auction in November 2003 for EUR 59,750.00.

Im Januar 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Merchant At His Desk von Abraham van Strij zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.143,49) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00.
