Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Camera Obscura Image of Times Square in Hotel Room by Abelardo Morell was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 12,683.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abelardo Morell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001, which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,367.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Camera Obscura Image of Times Square in Hotel Room von Abelardo Morell wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 12.683,71) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Abelardo Morell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.367,27) versteigert wurde.
