Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Book With Wavy Pages' by Abelardo Morell was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,408.00 (€ 1,272.83). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Abelardo Morell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001 in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,367.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'Book With Wavy Pages' von Abelardo Morell im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.408,00 (€ 1.272,83) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Abelardo Morell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Detail of Book Damaged by Water, 2001 im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.367,27).
