In May 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Post War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session, which included this untitled work by Zwelethu Mthethwa. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 7,948.26), 70% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zwelethu Mthethwa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled from Sugar Cane Series, which sold at auction in May 2010 for USD 27,500.00 (€ 22,233.00).

Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Zwelethu Mthethwa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 7.948,26) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Zwelethu Mthethwa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled from Sugar Cane Series beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für USD 27.500,00 (€ 22.233,00) versteigert wurde.
