Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2010 Phillips in New York held the auction AFRICA Theme Sale, which included the work Lovers III by Zwelethu Mthethwa. The price achieved of USD 1,000.00 (€ 808.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 900.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zwelethu Mthethwa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled from Sugar Cane Series in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 27,500.00 (€ 22,233.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2010 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion AFRICA Theme Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lovers III von Zwelethu Mthethwa zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.000,00 (€ 808,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 900,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zwelethu Mthethwa erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled from Sugar Cane Series im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 22.233,00).
