Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled from Sugar Cane by Zwelethu Mthethwa was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in London in May 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,576.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zwelethu Mthethwa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled from Sugar Cane Series, which sold at auction in May 2010 for USD 27,500.00 (€ 22,233.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled from Sugar Cane von Zwelethu Mthethwa wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.576,27) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Zwelethu Mthethwa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled from Sugar Cane Series beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für USD 27.500,00 (€ 22.233,00) versteigert wurde.
