Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Colophon on the Hua Family Genealogy Book by Zhu Yunming was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 480,000.00 (€ 57,521.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhu Yunming achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cursive Script Calligraphy in December this year with an auction result of HKD 24,575,000.00 (€ 2,843,608.75).
