Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sparrows And Grapes by Zheng Naiguang was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in February 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,329.53). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zheng Naiguang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Lotus in October 2012 with an auction result of HKD 552,000.00 (€ 54,952.92).
