Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Calligraphy In Clerical Script by Zhang Yuzhao was worth USD 25,000.00 (€ 18,470.63) to a buyer in September 2013. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Cal at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 8,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhang Yuzhao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Four-Character Couplet in Running Script sold at auction in October 2012 with the realized price of HKD 322,000.00 (€ 32,055.87).
