Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Eight-character Calligraphic Couple in Regular Script by Zhang Boying was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in February 2023, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 113,400 (€ 13,627). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zhang Boying - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work , which sold at auction in April 2011 for HKD 560,000 (€ 48,666).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Eight-character Calligraphic Couple in Regular Script von Zhang Boying im Februar 2023 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 113.400 (€ 13.627) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Zhang Boying mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit beobachtet, die im April 2011 für HKD 560.000 (€ 48.666) versteigert wurde.
