This artwork by Zainul Abedin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2012. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Untitled (Potato Eaters) sold for USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,874.16) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Zainul Abedin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Santhal Women) in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 161,331.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Zainul Abedin erzielte im März 2012 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Potato Eaters) für USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.874,16) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zainul Abedin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Santhal Women) im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 161.331,96).
