Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Two Untitled Works by Zainul Abedin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2014, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 35,000.00 (€ 25,404.66). Admittedly, works by Zainul Abedin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Santhal Women) in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 161,331.96).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Two Untitled Works von Zainul Abedin im März 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 7.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 35.000,00 (€ 25.404,66) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zainul Abedin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Santhal Women) im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 161.331,96).
