Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work Winston Churchill by Yousuf Karsh. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,225.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Yousuf Karsh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fifteen Portraits in April 2013 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 37,970.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Winston Churchill von Yousuf Karsh zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.292,00 (€ 6.225,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yousuf Karsh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fifteen Portraits im April 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 37.970,84).
