This artwork by Yayoi Kusama achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2007. In the Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints auction, the work Flowers sold for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,754.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yayoi Kusama erzielte im September 2007 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints wurde die Arbeit Flowers für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.754,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
