Three collector’s seals of Cheng Bofen (1911-1988)
NOTE: Born in Nagoya, Maruyama Taiu was a famous seal carver of Japan, and studied under Xu Sangeng (1826-1890) in Shanghai before returning and developed a new style of seal carving in Japan.
Cheng Bofen was born in Shexian County, Anhui, and was a famous collector who lived in Japan. He was the author of "Xuan Hui Tang Calligraphy and Painting Records".

The work Calligraphy in Running Script by Yang Wencong was sold in the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center auction at Christies in December 2021. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 137,500.00 (€ 15,574.75), 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yang Wencong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Verdant Mountains in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 23,150,000.00 (€ 2,547,930.98).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Script von Yang Wencong wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center bei Christies versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 137.500,00 (€ 15.574,75) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yang Wencong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Verdant Mountains im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 23.150.000,00 (€ 2.547.930,98).
