In March last year Bonhams in New York held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part V The Online Sale, which included the work Waterfall Landscape by Xu Shichang. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,650.00 (€ 6,896.24), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Xu Shichang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in May 2010 with an auction result of HKD 500,000.00 (€ 51,944.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part V The Online Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waterfall Landscape von Xu Shichang zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.650,00 (€ 6.896,24) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Xu Shichang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 500.000,00 (€ 51.944,38).
