Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Eight-Character Calligraphic Couplet In Regular Script by Xu Shichang was sold in the Collections of paintings preserved by overseas collectors IV auction at POLY in January 2024. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 5,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 6,000.00 (€ 921.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xu Shichang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in May 2010 with an auction result of HKD 500,000.00 (€ 51,944.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Eight-Character Calligraphic Couplet In Regular Script von Xu Shichang wurde im Januar 2024 in der Auktion Collections of paintings preserved by overseas collectors IV bei POLY versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 5.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 6.000,00 (€ 921,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xu Shichang erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 500.000,00 (€ 51.944,38).
