Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Magnolia And Camellia Flower by Xu Shichang was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in May 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 50,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 188,800.00 (€ 21,821.79). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Shichang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy, which sold at auction in May 2010 for HKD 500,000.00 (€ 51,944.38).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Magnolia And Camellia Flower von Xu Shichang im Mai 2016 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 50.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 188.800,00 (€ 21.821,79) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Xu Shichang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für HKD 500.000,00 (€ 51.944,38) versteigert wurde.
