Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Bamboo and Red Tree by Xu Shichang was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in June 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at HKD 437,500.00 (€ 50,598.44). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Xu Shichang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in May 2010 with the realized price of HKD 500,000.00 (€ 51,944.38).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Bamboo and Red Tree von Xu Shichang im Juni 2015 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 437.500,00 (€ 50.598,44) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Xu Shichang; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy im Mai 2010 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 500.000,00 (€ 51.944,38).
