Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy In Zhuanshu by Wu Dacheng was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 400,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 1,750,000.00 (€ 200,022.41). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wu Dacheng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy Couplet In Zhuanshu, which sold at auction in April 2015 for HKD 5,360,000.00 (€ 619,458.88).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy In Zhuanshu von Wu Dacheng im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 400.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 1.750.000,00 (€ 200.022,41) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Wu Dacheng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Zhuanshu beobachtet, die im April 2015 für HKD 5.360.000,00 (€ 619.458,88) versteigert wurde.
