Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Shepherdess by Winslow Homer was sold in the American Art Online auction at Christies in New York in August 2020. The price achieved of USD 106,250.00 (€ 89,016.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).
