Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Winslow Homer could be acquired at Christies in New York in January last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work Startled changed hands for USD 187,500.00 (€ 167,231.54) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Winslow Homer konnte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 19th Century American Art wechselte die Arbeit Startled für USD 187.500,00 (€ 167.231,54) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winslow Homer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Where are the Boats? im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.572.500,00 (€ 3.918.166,24).
