Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work On The Fence by Winslow Homer. The price achieved of USD 137,500.00 (€ 124,671.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit On The Fence von Winslow Homer zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 124.671,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winslow Homer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Where are the Boats? im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.572.500,00 (€ 3.918.166,24).
