Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "Old time fighters" (illustrated); and "Up and down channel" by William Minshall Birchall was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 525.00 (€ 615.11). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Minshall Birchall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tower Bridge, London, which sold at auction in May 2001 for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,969.91).
