In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures), which included the work Solent Sunbeams by William Minshall Birchall. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 900.00 (€ 1,336.53), 29% above the upper estimate. Other works by William Minshall Birchall have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,969.91) in May 2001 for the work Tower Bridge, London.
