This artwork by William Minshall Birchall achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in April this year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work 'A White Star Giant off Birkenhead' sold for GBP 1,083.75 (€ 1,235.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Minshall Birchall; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tower Bridge, London sold at auction in May 2001 with the realized price of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,969.91).
