Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Shayer Snr. could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Mother and Child Resting alongside the Path changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 947.98) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Shayer Snr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The itinerant rabbit seller in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 36,425.00 (€ 57,963.65).
