Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Sharp could be acquired at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in September last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints & Photographs auction, the work Beach-Combers changed hands for USD 191.25 (€ 195.49) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Sharp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Watching Over his Sister in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,760.00 (€ 2,828.74).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Sharp konnte im September letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Prints & Photographs wechselte die Arbeit Beach-Combers für USD 191,25 (€ 195,49) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300,00 – 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Sharp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Watching Over his Sister im Januar 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760,00 (€ 2.828,74).
