In December 2017 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters including Old Master & British Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Four Landscape Studies: Figures By A Ruined Church; Figures On A Track Beside A Cottage; Travellers On A Winding Track, A Tower Beyond; Figures On A Winding Track, A Fortress And A Bay Beyond by William Payne. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,532.05). Admittedly, works by William Payne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,335.36).

Im Dezember 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters including Old Master & British Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Four Landscape Studies: Figures By A Ruined Church; Figures On A Track Beside A Cottage; Travellers On A Winding Track, A Tower Beyond; Figures On A Winding Track, A Fortress And A Bay Beyond von William Payne zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.532,05) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Payne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 10.335,36).
