In the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work Below Stoke Damerel Church, Plymouth sold for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,363.66) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Payne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,335.36).
