This artwork by William Merritt Chase achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. In the Two Centuries: American Art auction, the work Still Life - Fruit sold for USD 81,900.00 (€ 70,896.81) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Merritt Chase erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Two Centuries: American Art wurde die Arbeit Still Life - Fruit für USD 81.900,00 (€ 70.896,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Merritt Chase erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.649.000,00 (€ 4.273.136,25).
