In March 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Santa Maria della Salute: and The Doge's Palace from the Dogana, Venice by William Meadows. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,060.00 (€ 8,415.01), 27% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Meadows - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On The Grand Canal, Venice, Before The Fall of The Tower; And Santa Maria Della Salute, Venice, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,030.50).
