Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, which included the work View Of The Grand Canal, Venice by William Meadows. The price achieved of USD 3,125.00 (€ 2,228.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Meadows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Grand Canal, Venice, Before The Fall of The Tower; And Santa Maria Della Salute, Venice in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,030.50).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Meadows erzielen.
