Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Triumphant Grace: Important Americana from the Collection of Barbara and Arun Singh, which included the work Three Portraits: The Woods Children by William Matthew Prior. The price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,341.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Matthew Prior - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Group of Family Portraits, which sold at auction in January 2005 for USD 156,000.00 (€ 119,549.39).

Im Januar 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Triumphant Grace: Important Americana from the Collection of Barbara and Arun Singh durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Portraits: The Woods Children von William Matthew Prior zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.341,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Matthew Prior mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Group of Family Portraits beobachtet, die im Januar 2005 für USD 156.000,00 (€ 119.549,39) versteigert wurde.
