Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Important Americana, which included the work Portrait Of A Man by William Matthew Prior. The price achieved of USD 4,788.00 (€ 4,409.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Matthew Prior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Group of Family Portraits in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 156,000.00 (€ 119,549.39).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Americana durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Man von William Matthew Prior zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.788,00 (€ 4.409,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Matthew Prior erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Group of Family Portraits im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 156.000,00 (€ 119.549,39).
