In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver and Prints, which included the work A Group of Family Portraits by William Matthew Prior. Here, the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 156,000.00 (€ 119,549.39). With this result, A Group of Family Portraits is even the most expensive work of art by William Matthew Prior that we have observed at auctions so far.
