In January 2001 Christies in New York held the auction AMERICAN FOLK ART: THE COLLECTION OF KENDRA & ALLAN DANIEL, which included the work Portrait of a Young Girl with Pink Ribbon and Gold Jewelry by William Matthew Prior. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,925.00 (€ 13,885.90), 29% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Matthew Prior have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Group of Family Portraits in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 156,000.00 (€ 119,549.39).

Im Januar 2001 führte Christies in New York die Auktion AMERICAN FOLK ART: THE COLLECTION OF KENDRA & ALLAN DANIEL durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a Young Girl with Pink Ribbon and Gold Jewelry von William Matthew Prior zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.925,00 (€ 13.885,90) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Matthew Prior auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Group of Family Portraits im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 156.000,00 (€ 119.549,39).
