This artwork by William Louis Sonntag achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2007. In the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work Night In The Forest sold for USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,231.68) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Louis Sonntag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Morning In The Alleghenies in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 230,500.00 (€ 177,171.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Louis Sonntag erzielte im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wurde die Arbeit Night In The Forest für USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.231,68) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Louis Sonntag erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Morning In The Alleghenies im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 230.500,00 (€ 177.171,41).
