This artwork by William Louis Sonntag achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in May last year. In the American Art auction, the work Sunset 3 5/8 x 6 1/8 in. (9.2 x 15.6 cm.) sold for USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,158.51) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Louis Sonntag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Morning In The Alleghenies in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 230,500.00 (€ 177,171.41).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Louis Sonntag erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Sunset 3 5/8 x 6 1/8 in. (9.2 x 15.6 cm.) für USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.158,51) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Louis Sonntag erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Morning In The Alleghenies im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 230.500,00 (€ 177.171,41).
