Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Bringing In The Hay by William Louis Sonntag for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,463.74). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Louis Sonntag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Morning In The Alleghenies in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 230,500.00 (€ 177,171.41).
