Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Moret Sur Loing by William Lamb Picknell was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,320.41). Admittedly, works by William Lamb Picknell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French Landscape in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 47,866.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Moret Sur Loing von William Lamb Picknell im Oktober 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.320,41) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Lamb Picknell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit French Landscape im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.650,00 (€ 47.866,64).
