Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work The opium den by William Lamb Picknell for USD 37,500.00 (€ 27,342.33). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolors Part II at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by William Lamb Picknell have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2000 by the work French Landscape at USD 44,650.00 (€ 47,866.64).
