In May 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work French Landscape by William Lamb Picknell. The »bidding war« ended at USD 44,650.00 (€ 47,866.64), 49% above the upper estimate. With this result, French Landscape is even the most expensive work of art by William Lamb Picknell that we have observed at auctions so far.
