Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Hogarth achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2011. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work The Rake's Progress sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,480.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hogarth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 418,908.42).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Hogarth erzielte im November 2011 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Christie's Interiors wurde die Arbeit The Rake's Progress für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.480,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hogarth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 375.000,00 (€ 418.908,42).
