The work View of Port Louis, Mauritius from the sea by William Hodges was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. It achieved a price of GBP 189,000.00 (€ 221,641.69), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 26%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hodges - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti), which sold at auction in October 2019 for GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).
