Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Funchal, Madeira by William Hodges was sold in the Out of Office: Art that Transports auction at Christies in London in June 2020. The price achieved of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,649.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hodges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).
