Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Hodges could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work The Flight into Egypt; and Hagar and Ishmael changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 876.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hodges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Hodges konnte im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours wechselte die Arbeit The Flight into Egypt; and Hagar and Ishmael für GBP 750,00 (€ 876,87) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hodges erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 659.250,00 (€ 764.682,72).
