Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June this year Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration Sale, which included the work "A View of the Ruins of a Palace at Gazipoor on the River Ganges"; "A View of the Ravines at Etawa" tinted aquatint views by and after Hodges, published by J. Wells, 1785-1787; together with 4 further aquatint views of India by Hodges, and 3 views of by William Hodges. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,216.00 (€ 1,415.21). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hodges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Travel & Exploration Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit "A View of the Ruins of a Palace at Gazipoor on the River Ganges"; "A View of the Ravines at Etawa" tinted aquatint views by and after Hodges, published by J. Wells, 1785-1787; together with 4 further aquatint views of India by Hodges, and 3 views of von William Hodges zur Versteigerung kam.
