Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel, which included the work A View of a Mosque at Mounheer' Maner by William Hodges. The price achieved of GBP 240,500.00 (€ 344,859.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hodges - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti), which sold at auction in October 2019 for GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).

Im September 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel durch, in der auch die Arbeit A View of a Mosque at Mounheer' Maner von William Hodges zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 240.500,00 (€ 344.859,31) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hodges mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für GBP 659.250,00 (€ 764.682,72) versteigert wurde.
